Dr. Samuel J. Laurencin, M.D. Ph.D. serves as the Chief of Orthopedics at Waterbury Hospital and is a key orthopedic surgeon at NOSS (Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics & Spine Specialists, P.C.) in Waterbury, CT. He is fellowship-trained in adult joint reconstruction, offering advanced care in total and partial joint replacements, minimally invasive techniques, regenerative medicine, and general orthopedic trauma.
During his residency training at the University of Connecticut, Dr. Laurencin served as chief resident. He then completed an adult reconstruction fellowship at Harvard University—Massachusetts General Hospital, the nation’s oldest continuous arthroplasty training program. Dr. Laurencin brings innovation and precision to every procedure, with a focus on reducing pain and accelerating recovery through minimally invasive methods.
As Chief of Orthopedics at Waterbury Hospital, Dr. Laurencin leads the orthopedic service line—driving excellence in patient care, surgical innovation, and care coordination across the region. He plays a pivotal role in expanding world-class joint replacement services within the community.
Dr. Laurencin is deeply rooted in Connecticut and committed to improving quality of life for patients throughout the Greater Waterbury region. He is governed by the philosophy that orthopedic care is most effective when it’s personal, compassionate, and tailored to each patient’s goals. Outside clinical responsibilities, he actively mentors youth through outreach initiatives in and around Waterbury, CT.
